Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) has emerged as a major maternal health challenge in Pakistan. Studies estimate that between 16.7% and over 35% of pregnant women may be affected, with prevalence rising in recent years.

Regional data shows significant variation, with reported prevalence as high as 35.8% in Balochistan, followed by 23.9% in Islamabad, and lower but concerning rates in Punjab and Sindh.
